Main currency in Moscow is rubles (RUB).

As per Russian legislation it is allowed to import up to $ 10,000 (or its equivalent in any currency) through the Russian customs without filling in a declaration. The limitations apply only to cash, funds on bank cards are unlimited.

In Russia currency exchange operations are to be performed only in banks or in their specialized offices. Currency exchange offices are easy to find from the street, as such offices put out glowing display boards with currency rates near their entrances. Some currency exchange offices of the banks operate around the clock. Currency may also be exchanged for rubles in the airport, immediately after arriving to Russia, but the exchange rates are usually less favorable than in the city. In Russia it is not possible to pay for goods and services in foreign currency, as only rubles are accepted as payment.
